The reflector is adjustable to a deep or shallow fold for a 1 1/4 stop variable to help balance with existing light. On a digital camera you can see if the flash is too strong on the subject and adjust the reflector to help balance it with the existing light. The straight up position also allows you to tilt the flash for ceiling bounce light indoors.

The reflector is made of flexible material and wraps around the flash head attaching with a velcro piece on each side. It is quick to attach and detach and you can roll it up for quick storage and retrieval.

The Softlight Reflector can now convert into the Lens Visor. We have lengthened the strap and put a small rubber square on the back to help keep it from sliding. You can see how to put it on your lens shade in our online video. An image taken with even the best lens can lose sharpness, contrast and color from lens flare. A lens shade helps but is usually not enough. The Lens Visor extends to offer more blocking area.

MAIN AND FILL LIGHT
USING SOFT LIGHT REFLECTOR
When your flash is set stronger than existing light it becomes the main light for your photograph. When the flash is set lower than the existing light it becomes a fill light. You can also balance
the flash and existing light by letting more light in through your lens opening or using a slower shutter speed.

Direct Flash creates a dark harsh shadow from the coffee cups handle. Using the Soft Light Reflector softens and lightens
the shadow created by the light from the flash.

CEILING BOUNCE
AND DEEP SHADOWS
When closer than 10 feet to your subject, bouncing your flash off the ceiling can create a high angle of light and deep shadows. The Soft Light Reflector in the flat position directs light towards the subject while allowing light to bounce off the ceiling.

NATURAL LIGHT
ISN'T ALWAYS PRETTY
Direction of light is very important. Natural light can come from many directions creating some bad shadows. The direction of the light in a room often comes from lights in the ceiling from a high angle which creates bad shadows as seen above. Flash on camera creates a lower angle of light which is more pleasing.

I have purchased two of the Soft Light Reflectors and have used them both indoors with a primary light source and for outdoor portraits for fill.  The lighting they produce is vastly superior, especailly for portraits, to direct flash.  I carry one of these with me at all times and use it for most of my flash photography.   13. We suggest 15 feet or less when using Soft Light Reflector as the main light in a photograph. With digital you can see if your exposure is good and if you have enough power.
  14. Your flashes power, the lens opening you are using will affect your shooting distance.
